An Italian client recently placed a bulk order for 50 sets of ten-tier Pineapple Tower systems to establish a large-scale commercial rooftop farming project locally. Already engaged in urban agriculture, the client aims to transform unused rooftop space into an efficient, continuous fresh vegetable production base—a goal perfectly met by the Pineapple Tower system.
The ten-tier Pineapple Tower is specifically engineered for high-density cultivation, featuring 80 planting slots per unit. The 50 units collectively accommodate approximately 4,000 plants. This hydroponic recirculating system is highly suitable for leafy greens, herbs like basil, and certain dwarf vegetables, offering rapid growth, minimal footprint, and consistent yields. In rooftop settings with limited space and fluctuating environmental conditions, the vertical tower structure maximizes vertical space utilization, boosting output per square foot—a key factor in the client's decision.
The client also noted that traditional cultivation struggles to adapt to rooftop environments. However, Pineapple Tower's lightweight modular design, flexible installation, and simple maintenance made the entire project feasible. Its nutrient solution recirculation system delivers significant water savings, aligning perfectly with local demands for sustainable agriculture. Once fully operational, the farm will provide a stable supply of fresh local produce to the city center, reducing transportation distances and enabling restaurants and communities to access fresher ingredients.
For the client, this project represents not only a commercial investment but also an endeavor to “transform urban space into valuable farmland.” Initial equipment has been delivered, and the client is now finalizing the overall layout plan. Moving forward, they intend to expand the scale and replicate this rooftop farming model across more buildings.
