NFT Hydroponic System Supports Sustainable Leafy Green Farming in Seychelles

In island regions like Seychelles, producing fresh vegetables locally can be challenging. Limited farmland, high transportation costs, and dependence on imported produce often make fresh leafy greens more expensive and less stable in supply. To address these challenges, a local agricultural expert with years of farming experience introduced a complete NFT hydroponic system to establish a more efficient method for leafy vegetable production. The project focuses on growing high-demand crops such as lettuce and green onions, supplying fresh produce to local supermarkets, restaurants, and specialty food businesses.


With professional knowledge in crop cultivation and greenhouse management, the customer independently manages the entire growing process, including plant care, nutrient adjustment, and daily system operation. The NFT hydroponic system helps maximize production efficiency through continuous nutrient solution circulation, providing plant roots with a stable supply of water, nutrients, and oxygen.


During cultivation, the system demonstrated excellent performance for leafy green production. Lettuce developed thick, fresh leaves with consistent quality, while green onions showed uniform growth and strong appearance. Compared with traditional soil farming, NFT hydroponics provides a cleaner growing environment, reduces soil-related issues, and creates more stable conditions for commercial vegetable production.


The modular design of the NFT system makes installation flexible and space-efficient, which is especially suitable for island areas where agricultural land is limited. Its closed-loop water circulation design significantly improves water efficiency, making it an ideal sustainable farming solution for regions facing freshwater resource challenges.


By implementing NFT hydroponic technology, the customer successfully established a stable local production model for fresh leafy vegetables. The project reduces reliance on imported produce, helps lower supply costs, and demonstrates how commercial hydroponic farming systems can support sustainable agriculture in island environments.
