Singapore School Hydroponic Tower Project for STEM Education and Sustainable Campus Farming

2026-07-09

Recently, we received an inquiry from a secondary school in Singapore looking to purchase a hydroponic growing system for a small educational farming project. Building on its existing growing facilities, the school planned to introduce a vertical hydroponic tower system to create a learning environment that combines a campus garden, hands-on science education, and sustainable agriculture.

The school already operates a greenhouse equipped with an A-frame NFT hydroponic system. To expand its agricultural education program, it wanted to install hydroponic towers in both the outdoor campus garden and an indoor hydroponic classroom. This would allow students to observe plant growth under different growing conditions while learning about soilless cultivation, plant nutrition, water recycling, and modern hydroponic farming. Through daily planting, maintenance, and harvesting, students can gain practical experience while developing a deeper understanding of environmental sustainability.

Singapore's tropical rainforest climate features consistently warm temperatures, high humidity, and abundant sunlight throughout the year, making it ideal for growing a wide range of leafy vegetables. Hydroponic farming is particularly well suited to Singapore's urban environment because it uses significantly less water, minimizes soil-borne diseases, and maximizes production in limited spaces. The school plans to grow lettuce, bok choy, spinach, kale, romaine lettuce, basil, mint, and other leafy greens and herbs, providing both educational value and fresh produce for campus activities.

Based on the school's requirements, we recommended several vertical hydroponic tower models suitable for both indoor and outdoor cultivation. For the outdoor campus garden, the customer requested towers with a height of 180–200 cm to maximize growing capacity while allowing students to easily manage daily maintenance and harvesting. After comparing different options, the school selected the 8P10 Hydroponic Tower for outdoor cultivation, making efficient use of the available campus space. For the indoor hydroponic classroom, the 6P7 Hydroponic Tower equipped with professional full-spectrum LED grow lights was chosen to provide stable growing conditions even in areas with limited natural light, enabling year-round vegetable production.

The new hydroponic tower system will become an important part of the school's modern agriculture curriculum, STEM education program, and sustainability initiatives. By integrating vertical hydroponic technology into both indoor and outdoor learning environments, students will gain hands-on experience with smart farming while harvesting fresh, healthy vegetables throughout the year.
